Elder’s Meditation of the Day March 30

“If anyone has children, they better teach their children to follow the traditions that we’re leaving
behind because it is later than we think with all that’s going on.”
–Juanita Centeno, CHUMASH

The habits, attitudes and beliefs that carry the human through the trials of life are developed at a very young age. If we are taught respect at a very young age, the odds are we’ll be respectful through our whole lives. If we are taught to dance at a young age, we’ll dance our whole lives. If we are taught to sing the traditional songs while we are young, we’ll sing those songs through out whole lives. And weho do we drum and sing songs to? Our children. This is how we keep it going.

Great Spirit, today, teach me to teach the children.

Msit Nókmaq/All My Relations,
Children do learn quicker than adults because their memory banks are not cluttered with old files. If you show a child how to do something once they will usually be able to do it themselves. The answer to a so called wild child is not prozac but let the child be normal. Now days if a child is rowdy they are considered hyper and given meds to stop normal behavior. Pills are the answer to the whitemans world today a pill for everything. It all is synthetic now days and the natural medicines are being deleted from pharmacopia. Teach our children to be real not robots.
~ Arthur Medicine Eagle-Sonier, MEGAMAW

Gitsch Manito-Creator,Wásóq-Spiritworld, Please help me to see that children are entitled to live just as I had. Help me to show direction when I am supposed to and to help any child that comes
forward wanting help. Welálin/Thank You, Msit Nókmaq, Chi~Miigwetch, Mitauke Oyasin
